Today I was reading an excerpt from my Guru Baba Shiva Rudra Balayogi (http://www.shivarudrabalayogi.org) and I was reminded of how easy it is to lead a peaceful and satisfying life if one follows his teachings on how we have 3 things we should feel responsible for:
1. The Physical Body. An easy one for most of us to understand. Take care of it and be healthy, understanding that no matter what you cannot stop the aging process.
2. The Mind. Keep our mind healthy. It is limitless it its power and we are responsible for its thoughts. As our mind becomes healthier we are able to think on a larger scale; happiness of others, taking care of others, creating a more peaceful society. Less selfishness and narrowmindness.
3. Moral Values. When we have a healthy mind it is easy to follow moral values, they come hand in hand. When we have a healthy mind we are able to take correct action and be considerate of others.
It is so simple isn’t it. We all have 24 hours in a day. How much of that time do we devote to keeping our mind healthy? We all have the same amount of time so imagine if everyone globally committed just one hour a day to looking after their mind the effect this could have. This leaves 23hrs a day for getting rich, going to work, taking care of family and being with friends.
For those who practice yoga regularly they may slowly start to notice change in their life. Baba teaches the best way to know if your practice is working for you is to notice if your life has become more peaceful.
It sounds as though a peaceful life is one of the truest signs of a spiritual soul no matter what their religion. If there is no peace there is no spirituality.
